More than an editor
Slate works with the tools you already use
Build with your AI assistant or start from a Canva presentation. Both come with your Access plan.
Build with the AI you already use
Your Access plan includes Slate MCP. Connect an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT and build courses just by chatting, or draft your lesson in another tool like Gemini and import it straight into Slate.
Start from a Canva presentation
Bring a Canva presentation as your source material and Slate drafts the course for you to refine and export. It is available now in the Canva Apps Marketplace, and included with your plan.

The only thing we ask
Pay it forward
When Slate helps you, pass that opportunity on in whatever way feels possible for you.
Help an organization that needs it
Volunteer your time or skills with an under-resourced nonprofit, community group, or school.
Pass on the opportunity
When your circumstances change, consider paying the regular rate so someone else can get a break too.
Tell someone about Slate
Recommend it to a classmate, colleague, or fellow course author when it could help them.
There is no tracking, reporting, or pressure. Just pay it forward when you can.
Frequently asked questions
A few practical details, without making the program more complicated than it needs to be.
- Who is Slate Access for?
- Students, recent graduates, early-career course authors, people rebuilding after a layoff, and anyone who cannot afford Slate's regular price right now. These are examples, not a checklist. If that sounds like you, this rate is for you.
- Do I need to prove that I need it?
- No. We do not ask for income records, proof of enrolment, employment history, or an explanation of your circumstances. We trust you to use the rate when you need it.
- Is Slate Access a smaller plan?
- No. It is the complete Slate Standard plan: the same AI, credits, exports, MCP access, LESSON.md workflow, limits, and support as any other Standard subscription.
- Will Slate Access appear in Slate or in my work?
- No. Slate Access is only a private billing arrangement. Your account appears as a Standard plan, and Slate Access will not appear in the Slate app, your courses, exports, preview links, screenshots, or anything you share with learners, colleagues, or clients.
- How does billing work?
- Slate Access is a 12-month discount on Standard. It is billed annually at the Access rate, which works out to $15 USD per month, or $180 USD for the year. We never change the price during a paid 12-month term.
- Why is the Access discount for 12 months?
- Because we believe in you.
- Why does Slate offer Access?
- Because expertise should still have a path to paid work. Students and early-career course authors have knowledge worth sharing, and we want them to have a real chance to turn it into opportunity. Slate Access is not designed to be a profit centre. It is one small way we can help people get started.
- What happens after the 12-month discount?
- Any ongoing subscription renews at the then-current Standard rate unless Slate offers another discount. Slate Access is not designed to be a profit centre, but if we offer a further Access term, its rate and terms may differ. We will give you at least 90 days’ notice before any change affects your renewal.
- What does paying it forward mean?
- Anything that feels possible for you. Tell someone about Slate, share your expertise, help an under-resourced organization, or support someone else finding their way. We will not ask you to report back.
- What if my circumstances change?
- That is a good thing. When your 12-month Access discount ends and the regular rate is manageable, paying it helps Slate keep Access available for the next person who needs a break.
Your expertise has value. Charge for it.
We are happy to make Slate more accessible while you build momentum. You know your work. Price it with confidence, make room for yourself, and get paid for what you know.
