How Slate MCP works

MCP lets AI assistants interact directly with Slate. No copy-pasting, no context-switching.

Connect your AI assistant

Add Slate's MCP server to Claude Desktop or Claude Code. One-time setup takes about 2 minutes.

Authenticate with Slate

When your assistant first connects, you'll authorize it through Slate's secure OAuth flow.

Describe your course idea. Your assistant can create courses, check your credits, and manage your content.

Generate a complete e-learning course through conversation. Specify duration, difficulty, audience, location, and source materials. Optionally apply your saved theme.

Preview Course Outline

Generate a text outline of sections and lessons before committing credits. Review the proposed structure and refine your requirements.

get_user_preferences

Get User Preferences

Retrieve your default theme and credit balance. Enables the AI to offer applying your saved theme to new courses.

list_courses

List Courses

View up to 50 of your existing courses. See titles, section counts, and last updated dates at a glance.

get_course_summary

Get Course Summary

Retrieve detailed information about any course by title or ID. Useful for reviewing existing content.

check_credits

Check Credits

View your current AI credit balance. Course generation costs 1,250 credits per course.

Tip: Use preview_course_outline to generate a text outline before committing credits. This helps ensure the AI understands your requirements.

Setup instructions

Connect Slate to your AI assistant in a few steps.

Open settings

Click your profile icon, then select Settings.

Go to Connectors

Select Connectors from the settings menu, then click Add custom connector.

Add Slate

Enter Slate as the name and use this URL:

Authorize on first use

When you first ask Claude to use Slate, you'll be prompted to sign in. This uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for security.
